Araminta Designs

Image
Hello my dear friends Araminta Designs is very slowly becoming a reality and not just a dream. All of the quilts that I advertised in April have sold, (2 were auctioned a The Biggest Morning Tea Cancer Council Fundraiser, at Illaroo Road Public School, one sold for $100 and another for $50). I have also created a number of custom made quilts. This quilt's new home. I'm really excited to tell you that I will have a stand at the Kangaroo Valley Makers Market on Saturday, 30 July 2022. Please come and visit the markets for some handmade goodies.    I only have 10 or 12 quilts to make! I have started collecting fabrics that I want to use. I think my favourite part of the whole process is choosing and buying the fabric. Here are some of the fabrics that I have collected for the market stand. I have ordered professional business cards and a corflute sign for my stand. I am attending the Sydney Craft Show at Homebush this weekend - I can't wait. There are so many workshops and sem...

Pins and Paws Quilt

Image
Hello dear friends,  Happy Mother's Day to all.  "Biology is the least, that makes someone a mother."   Oprah. My latest gifted quilt is to a very special friend, Sally who has blessed my life in many ways. I adore this quilt called Pins & Paws.  You can find this tutorial on the Missouri Star Quilt Co. website.  It was made using a layer cake. The colours are so vibrant and using the black and white background fabric makes it look like the cat is sitting in the window of a darkened room or a lit room. QP by Rhonda

Hello dear friends, Robyn Regan is this week's quilter extraordinaire. Robyn is another of my American quilting friends. She is a wife, mother to a dear little boy and a full-time teacher.  Another very busy lady! I'm so glad that Robyn still can enjoy her talent for creating beautiful quilts. We would love to get to know you Robyn........ My name is Robyn Regan and I am a beginner quilter. Thank you, Rhonda, for asking me to be a guest contributor to your blog! Elizabeth Gliske Bulow

Image
Hello dear friends, Elizabeth Gliske Bulow is my next quilter extraordinaire.  I met Elizabeth through a Facebook Group called Lo & Behold Patterns.  I asked if anyone would like to be a quilting pen pal with me.  I received lots of replies and I now have a core group of ladies who have become my very special friends.  They tell me about the USA and Canada and I tell them about Australia.  It is so interesting learning about their cultures and traditions.  We love chatting about our quilts that we are working on and I feel very blessed to call these amazing women my friends. Elizabeth is a wife and mother of 3 beautiful little girls.  I don't know how she has the time or energy to make her stunning quilts.  Elizabeth's family live in a home that reminds me of The Little House on the Prairie in such magnificent countryside! What is your sewing history? "Growing up I sewed doll clothes on mom's sewing machine (mostly made a tangled mess) ...

Alycia Lacey - Christmas Quilt

Image
Hello dear friends, To start off the new year I thought that I would ask some quilter friends to contribute to my blog, quiltingpleasure.blogspot.com   Each week I will feature a new quilter and gorgeous quilts. These ladies are amazing and most have been quilting far longer than I have and are much more knowledgeable than me.  I am in awe of their creations and I wanted to share them with you. The first quilter extraordinaire is Mrs Alycia Lacey of "Pine View".  Our daughter has spent the last 2 years as a governess on their sheep station.  The women of the outback are truly amazing and their strength of character is inspiring. Alycia works on the station all hours of the day, is a wife and a mother to 2 gorgeous, clever and energetic boys.  I wonder how she has time  to complete such beautiful works of art.  Alycia shares a long arm quilting machine with her mother-in-law and comes up with not only stunning blocks but quilting that I coul...

Beaded Christmas Tree

Image
Hello dear friends I hope your Christmas was filled with joy and love. Ours was very busy, but a lot of family fun was had.  I didn't get to finish my beaded Christmas Tree before Christmas, but I completed it last night. It can enjoy the few days of the Christmas season with all my other decorations. It was simple to make with a hot glue gun, a navy fat quarter, an old photo frame, old costume jewellery and sequins. I wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2022. QP   by Rhonda
