How to Make a Post and Rail Baby Quilt

 Hello Dear Friends


I have just finished and delivered my latest baby quilt. It's the same pattern as the last one but this one has a strawberries and cream vibe.

I used a jelly roll - strips are already cut and ready to be curated to form the blocks.


Sew three strips together and iron the seams to the dark side (rather than ironing flat).



Trim the sewn strips to make a square.



Sew blocks together to form your design, ie horizontal then vertical, then horizontal etc.


Cut the borders and sew onto the quilt top.


Make your quilt sandwich, ensure that you have an excess of wadding and backing on all sides. These will be trimmed after quilting. Quilt your quilt top.




Cut your 2.5" strips for the binding.


Sew each length together as in the photo.


Trim the seam, as shown.


Sew the border onto the quilt top.


Finished! One Post and Rail baby quilt.

Well hello friends and welcome to my first official post. So, how did it all begin, you might ask.  Three years ago I was visiting my friend in Queensland and was admiring a quilt that she was making.  I was certain that I couldn't do anything like it.  (My last try was years ago when the children were small -  it was dismal!)   Hello dear friends, To start off the new year I thought that I would ask some quilter friends to contribute to my blog, quiltingpleasure.blogspot.com   Each week I will feature a new quilter and gorgeous quilts. Elizabeth Gliske Bulow

  Hello dear friends, Elizabeth Gliske Bulow is my next quilter extraordinaire.  I met Elizabeth through a Facebook Group called Lo & Behold Patterns.  I asked if anyone would like to be a quilting pen pal with me.  I received lots of replies and I now have a core group of ladies who have become my very special friends.  They tell me about the USA and Canada and I tell them about Australia.  It is so interesting learning about their cultures and traditions.  We love chatting about our quilts that we are working on and I feel very blessed to call these amazing women my friends.
