Fence and Rail Baby Quilt

 Hello my dear friends

I am so pleased to have made this quilt for a very special childhood friend of my daughter's. They have played together, went to school together, played netball together, celebrated birthdays together and now they are all grown up. It's hard to believe. Kate's little bundle of joy arrived 7 weeks early but we all know that wonderful surprises come in small packages. We truly wish Kate and her growing family much love, support and friendship.






This pattern is called Fence and Rail.  It is made up of left overs from a quilt that I have just about finished.  This quilt is really easy, so don't forget to contact me if you would like to have a go at creating your own Fence and Rail Quilt.

Well hello friends and welcome to my first official post. So, how did it all begin, you might ask.  Three years ago I was visiting my friend in Queensland and was admiring a quilt that she was making.  I was certain that I couldn't do anything like it.  (My last try was years ago when the children were small -  it was dismal!) The creative juices had been stirred and I felt a longing to try again.  Where did I start looking for help?  YouTube of course.  I googled "How to make an easy patchwork quilt".  I realised that I could stop the video, rewind and watch again - as many times as I needed.  YouTube wasn't around 20 odd years prior.  Maybe, just maybe this was the tool that I needed.  I am a visual learner and I have to be shown step by step. Alycia Lacey - Christmas Quilt

  Hello dear friends, To start off the new year I thought that I would ask some quilter friends to contribute to my blog, quiltingpleasure.blogspot.com   Each week I will feature a new quilter and gorgeous quilts. These ladies are amazing and most have been quilting far longer than I have and are much more knowledgeable than me.  I am in awe of their creations and I wanted to share them with you. The first quilter extraordinaire is Mrs Alycia Lacey of "Pine View".  Our daughter has spent the last 2 years as a governess on their sheep station.  The women of the outback are truly amazing and their strength of character is inspiring. Alycia works on the station all hours of the day, is a wife and a mother to 2 gorgeous, clever and energetic boys.  I wonder how she has time  to complete such beautiful works of art.  Alycia shares a long arm quilting machine with her mother-in-law and comes up with not only stunning blocks but quilting that I could only dream of doing. Elizabeth Gliske Bulow

  Hello dear friends, Elizabeth Gliske Bulow is my next quilter extraordinaire.  I met Elizabeth through a Facebook Group called Lo & Behold Patterns.  I asked if anyone would like to be a quilting pen pal with me.  I received lots of replies and I now have a core group of ladies who have become my very special friends.  They tell me about the USA and Canada and I tell them about Australia.  It is so interesting learning about their cultures and traditions.  We love chatting about our quilts that we are working on and I feel very blessed to call these amazing women my friends. Elizabeth is a wife and mother of 3 beautiful little girls.  I don't know how she has the time or energy to make her stunning quilts.  Elizabeth's family live in a home that reminds me of The Little House on the Prairie in such magnificent countryside!
