Kangaroo Valley Makers Markets

Hello dear friends

What a busy month! 12 quilts sewn and I was ready for my first Makers Markets in Kangaroo Valley.  It was a freezing, foggy morning but I bravely set up my stall.

 



The markets were held at The Hive and it looked a picture, especially when the sun came out.



Unfortunately, I didn't sell any quilts but I learnt a few things. Note to self: I need a bigger table and I need some cheaper items, such as table runners.  This is learning as you go, trying out different displays and options. I'm not discouraged as I think my quilts are one of a kind and the quality is good.  I just realised that not everyone wants a baby quilt!

Thanks to Alexandra and Ben for letting me use their furniture as props for my advertising.


I had a little ray of sunshine on Sunday when my beautiful friend bought a quilt with tiny hearts all over it.

Next month is another opportunity and I'm looking forward to it.

QUILTING FOR BEGINNERS

Well hello friends and welcome to my first official post. So, how did it all begin, you might ask.  Three years ago I was visiting my friend in Queensland and was admiring a quilt that she was making.  I was certain that I couldn't do anything like it.  (My last try was years ago when the children were small -  it was dismal!) The creative juices had been stirred and I felt a longing to try again.  Where did I start looking for help?  YouTube of course.  I googled "How to make an easy patchwork quilt".  I realised that I could stop the video, rewind and watch again - as many times as I needed.  YouTube wasn't around 20 odd years prior.  Maybe, just maybe this was the tool that I needed.  I am a visual learner and I have to be shown step by step. Elizabeth Gliske Bulow

  Hello dear friends, Elizabeth Gliske Bulow is my next quilter extraordinaire.  I met Elizabeth through a Facebook Group called Lo & Behold Patterns.  I asked if anyone would like to be a quilting pen pal with me.  I received lots of replies and I now have a core group of ladies who have become my very special friends.  They tell me about the USA and Canada and I tell them about Australia.  It is so interesting learning about their cultures and traditions.  We love chatting about our quilts that we are working on and I feel very blessed to call these amazing women my friends.
