BASIC TOOLS FOR QUILTING
A few things today. Firstly, here is a picture of the quilt that I am going to make using the fat quarter fabrics (from Scribbly Gum Quilt Co.) that I showed you in the last post.
The Puff Quilt by Brittany Lloyd of Lo & Behold Stitchery
Isn't it just so beautiful. I love the Ombre effect by using a range of colours going from dark to light and back to dark. Brittany is a lovely lady, who is very helpful and generous. Her designs are so clever and innovative.Take a look at her website https://www.loandbeholdstitchery.com/ and be inspired.
Secondly, I want to talk about the tools of quilting. When I started I bought this kit from Spotlight. This kit includes a patchwork ruler, rotary cutter - 28mm and cutting mat. I am still using it (3 years later), although I have moved onto a larger rotary cutter - 45mm. I'm not saying it's the bees knees but I have been very happy with its performance. Buy when it's on special and that's even better.
Other quilting rulers that I have bought are:
2.5 x 12 inch Gadget Gurus by Sew Easy.
9.5 x 9.5 inch Le Summit
12.5 x 12.5 inch Sew Easy
4.5 x 4.5 Inch Square Matilda's Own
Braid Template by SeamsLikeADream.com (To make a braid quilt.)
Of course scissors, sewing pins and quilting pins.
Good quality cotton (fabric costs too much to use cheap cotton).
Quilting Pin - see the bend in it.
Quilter's Choice Sewing Machine (Spotlight)
A walking foot.1/4 inch sewing foot
Sorry, some of the photos aren't the best. Any questions? Leave a message.
